Carolyn Jean Whitmore, 64, passed away Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 7, 1959, in Delta to Edward Franklin and Veda H. Surface Dunning.

She graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1977.

She worked at Southeast Hospital for more than 25 years and was a member of Apostolic Promise Church in Cape Girardeau, devoting numerous years in active ministry.

Carolyn is survived by a loving husband, David Whitmore of Jackson, and a daughter, Ashley Whitmore of Jackson. She is also survived by siblings, Susan (Scott) Donley of Winona, Missouri, and James (Joan) Dunning of Jackson; niece, Melissa Rose of Jackson; nephews, Chris (Stacy) Dunning of Jackson, Anthony (Hannah) Dunning of Cape Girardeau and Phillip Dunning of Jackson; great-nieces, Hannah Rose of St. Louis, Aria and Avery Dunning and one due in April. She also left behind three kitties, Teddy, Toby and Sassy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Brenda Dunning; and a niece, Kimberly Simmons.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home, with Pastor Timothy Lee officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family to be used for funeral expenses.
