Carolyn Peer-Hammonds, 39, 1829 Weissinger, died Friday, July 28, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born July 11, 1956, in LaGrange, Ark., daughter of Turner and Eula Noel Peer Sr. She and Jerry Hammonds were married May 11, 1985, in Cape Girardeau.
Peer-Hammonds was a 1977 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She did her internship at Hines VA Hospital in Chicago.
She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1979 from West Memphis, Ark. She had worked the past 16 years at St. Francis Medical Center, and was currently chief clinical dietitian.
She was a member of St. James AME Church, its choir and Steward Board, and was pianist for the Youth Choir.
Survivors include her husband; a son, David Hammonds of the home; a stepdaughter, Tamara Hammonds of Jefferson City; her mother of Southland, Ark.; two brothers, Turner Jr. and John Peer of Milwaukee, Wis.; five sisters, Ernestine Benton of Kankakee, Ill., Valerie Webb of Chicago, Ocie Brown of St. Louis, VeEtta Simmons of Marion, Ark., and Darlene Moss of Madison, Wis.
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
