Carolyn Burton, 64, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 22, 1952, in Oran, Missouri, the daughter of Johnny and Ellen Carter Kiefer. Most of her growing years were spent in Chaffee, Missouri.
She married Fred L. Burton Sr. on Dec. 31, 1984, in Cape Girardeau. After 14 years together, he passed away March 3, 1998, at their home in McClure, Illinois.
Though Carolyn and Fred had no children, he had six from a previous marriage.
Carolyn worked for several years in customer service at the Sam's store in Cape Girardeau and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary of Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include three sisters, Linda Fuller of Benton, Missouri, Deb Darnell of Advance, Missouri, and Tina Zerbe of Corydon, Indiana, and two brothers, John Kiefer Jr. of West Greenwich, Rhode Island, and William D. Kiefer of Saitama City, Japan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
After cremation, she will make one last trip to Japan to be strewn in the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
Cremation will be accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
