Funeral service for Carol Lavone Schmidt of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Larry Gray will officiate, with entombment in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Schmidt, 60, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Otis and Gladys Mayo Phillips. She and Donald A. Schmidt were married in January 1958. He died Sept. 20, 1988.
Schmidt was a graduate of College High School and Cape Girardeau Business College. She had worked at G.E. Supply, Atlas Plastics, and Spartech for 31 years. She was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Mark Schmidt of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Mary Johnson of Ormond Beach, Fla., Donna Lamb of Cape Girardeau; her father and stepmother, Otis and Carrie Phillips of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Larry Phillips of Collinsville, Ill., David Phillips of Springfield; three sisters, Becky Franklin of Cape Girardeau, Connie Lowden of Austin, Texas, Shirley Blythe of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
