Carol Maxine Morris, 87, formerly of Sikeston, Missouri, died Friday, June 2, 2017, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 22, 1929, near Chaffee, Missouri, to the late William Henry and Virginia Minnie (Slinkard) White.
A resident of this area most of her life, she was married to Clifford B. Morris on May 20, 1950, in Chaffee, and he preceded her in death June 4, 2002.
She had been office manager at Morris Insurance Agency and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi and had been a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #137 in Sikeston.
She later was married to E. Leon Whitler on May 24, 2003, in Sikeston, and he preceded her in death June 13, 2016.
While living in Jackson, she became a member of Zion Methodist Church-Gordonville. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Clifford B. and Christine Morris Jr. of Eldorado, Illinois, and Kenneth Lee and Charlotte Morris of St. Charles, Missouri; one daughter, Teresa Morris of Boerne, Texas; and two sisters, Martha Standridge of Sikeston and Camille Crumbaugh of Springfield, Illinois. Also surviving are six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Sikeston.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Rev. Joel Kidwell, her pastor from Zion United Methodist Church-Gordonville will officiate, and he will be assisted by the Rev. Jennifer Moxey, associate pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sikeston. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Swain, Mike Jobe, Ryan Jobe, Gene Morris, Bill Raben and Jim Morris.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association or Autism Speaks.
