LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Carol Frances Hahs Meyer, 71, of Louisville, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 3, 2017.

She was born Dec. 25, 1945, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Truman and Frances Kasten Hahs. She and Norman “Norm” Meyer were married June 18, 1967, at Zion United Methodist Church in Old Appleton, Missouri.

Carol graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1963 and then received a Bachelor of Science in home economics in 1967 from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.

While attending college, Carol marched with the Golden Eagles and was an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She was crowned homecoming queen in 1966.

She started her career as a teacher and most recently excelled as a director at Pampered Chef.

She was a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville and a passionate follower of Christ.

Carol had an ever-present smile, delightful and welcoming personality and endless patience. She loved her family dearly, enjoyed traveling, and was a cooking enthusiast and a lifelong volunteer to countless organizations.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Norm Meyer; their children, Jeff Meyer of Evansville, Indiana, Tammy Meyer Meadows of Louisville and Andy Meyer of Chicago; a brother, T. Ronald (Beverly) Hahs of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Nancy (Bob) Adelsberger of High Ridge, Missouri, and Janet (Don) White of Garland, Texas; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kathy Hahs.

Many heartfelt thanks to the caring and dedicated staff at the Nazareth Home in Louisville, where Carol spent the last year of her life.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Inurnment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

A memorial service was previously held for Carol on June 8 at Ratterman East Funeral Home in Louisville.
