COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Carnetta Underwood Welter, 92, formerly of Columbia, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023. COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Carnetta Underwood Welter, 92, formerly of Columbia, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023.

A private graveside committal will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia.

Carnetta was born May 28, 1931, in Fornfelt, Missouri, to the late Luther and Lula Underwood. She attended school in Fornfelt and the consolidated school of Fornfelt-Illmo, now known as Scott City.

She was married to W. D. Welker and from this union, she has six children, Susan Welker, Dianne Sebaugh (now deceased), Kathy Horn, Sam Welker, Dan Welker and George Welker. She has 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She married Don Welter in 1973.

Carnetta was active in the Brownie Scouts and Cub Scouts. She was financial chairman of the PTA at Lorimier School in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Right to Life, MAAD, Woman's Aglow, The Republican Women and Woman's Auxiliary Gideon International.

Carnetta was employed at W. T. Grant, Sears, JC Penney and Osco Drug. She also had a child care service in her home for eight years.

She loved RVing and especially loved to swim in the ocean. As a homemaker, she loved decorating and rearranging her home -- she delighted in attending to her flowers -- her favorite was the crepe myrtle. She was a lover of her dogs. She loved to rest in her outdoor swings, she had as many as four at one time.

Bach-Yager Funeral Chapel in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
