He was born July 18, 1918, in Biggers, Ark., son of H.A. and Lillie Mae Plunk Kuykendall. He and Ethel Cates were married Dec. 20,1947.
Kuykendall retired from farming in 1982. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Charleston, Masonic Lodge 407 AF&AM and VFW Post 4294. He had lived in Charleston since 1940.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Kenneth, Charles and Bobby Kuykendall of Charleston, Steve and Danny Kuykendall of Sikeston, Mo.; a daughter, Brenda Bruenderman of Charleston.
Also surviving are four half brothers, Shirrell Kuykendall of Bloomsdale, Mo., Almous Kuykendall of Lees Summit, Russell Kuykendall of Florissant, Mo., Jay Kuykendall of Peculiar, Mo.; four half sisters, Shirley Cates of Charleston, Margie Coffer of East Prairie, Mo., Betty Schatte of Advance, Mo., Linda Rogers of Independence, Mo.; two stepbrothers, Elzie Pemberton of Bertrand, Mo., Tom Pemberton of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; two stepsisters, Arvellia King of Maryville, Ill., Wanda Salyer of Anniston, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, a half sister and two stepbrothers.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
