Carmen Cassady

Carmen E. Cassady, 62, of Jackson passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006, at her home.

She was born June 5, 1943, in Santa Rosa, NM, daughter of the late Satero and Louisa Valencia Chaves. She and Everett Cassady were married July 2, 1969, in Clovis, N.M. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to St. Louis. In 1971, they moved to Jackson.

Carmen was a 1972 graduate of the Cape Girardeau School of Cosmetology. She worked at the former Pink Lady Beauty Shop in Cape Girardeau, and the former Hairport Beauty Shop in Cape Girardeau. In 1984, she established Plaza Hair Care, where she worked until failing health prohibited her.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

Survivors include her loving husband of 36 years, Everett; a son, Everett Cassady II of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Scott W. Stone of Jackson; and two grandchildren, Myah and Nicholas Stone.

Also surviving are five brothers, Mike, Ricky, Satero Jr., Horacio, and Tony Chaves, all of Clovis; and six sisters, Dora Baca, Gloria Chavez, Elena Zamora, all of Clovis, Priscilla Maldonado of Grand Prairie, Texas, Juanita Garza of Rio Rancho, N.M,, and Florinda Lamvern of California.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Christina Baca and Rosa Chaves.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Father Patrick Nwokoye officiating.

Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
