SIKESTON, Mo. -- Carlton F. Adams, 78, of Sikeston died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis.
He was born Oct. 3, 1925, in Plumerville, Ark., son of Clarence F. and Grace C. Campbell Adams. He and Pauline Morris were married April 15, 1976, in Bertrand, Mo.
Adams was a teacher at New Madrid Public Schools. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., AmVets Post 149, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3174, and Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114, all in Sikeston.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Franklin Adams of Sikeston, John Adams of Brilliant, Ala.; two daughters, Teri Heede of Honolulu, Hawaii, Bretta Adams of Brilliant; a stepson, Michael Sidsney of Bertrand; a stepdaughter, Donna Delgado of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Charles Adams of Senath, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a brother.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Lee Fansler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors by Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard.
