CYPRESS, Ill. -- Carlis Penrod, 87, of Cypress died Thursday, Feb. 12, 1998, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
He was born July 6, 1910, in Union County, son of Henry A. and Ruth Canupp Penrod. He and Ruth Turner were married July 3, 1931. She died Sept. 18, 1994.
Penrod was a retired heavy equipment operator, and did welding and machine work in his shop many years.
He lived in Cypress more than 60 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 318.
Survivors include a son, Jim Penrod of Metropolis; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Friendship Cemetery, with the Rev. Marion Mosley officiating.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola after noon Saturday.
