CARL WILLIAMS

COBDEN, Ill. -- Carl Vernell Williams, 59, of Cobden died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996, at his home.

He was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Cobden, son of Guy L. and Vashti L. Patterson Williams. He and Shirley Mae West were married May 19, 1959, in Jackson County.

Williams was the former site superintendent at Giant City State Park. He was a member of Limestone Baptist Church and Makanda Masonic Lodge, and was a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Pennington of Dongola, Ruth Williams-Meade of Carbondale; a sister, Patsy McCleland of Cobden; two brothers, Leroy Williams of Cobden, Larry Williams of Marion; a grandmother, Julia Dean of Cobden; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and his parents.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Wes Henson and Kenneth Mixen officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
