Carl W. Southard, 74, of Shawnee, Kan., died peacefully Saturday, April 28, 2007, at home with his wife and daughter by his side.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hope Lutheran Church, 6308 Quivira Road, Shawnee. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 West 87th Street, Suite 100, Lenexa, Kan., 66215 and/or Hope Lutheran Organ Fund.
Mr. Southard was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Chaffee, Mo.
He worked for Southwestern Bell many years, retiring from AT&T.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pat Southard; a daughter, Carla Southard of Fairway, Kan., two sisters, Muriel Kelley of Cape Girardeau, Pauline Schlueter of St. Louis; a brother, Elmer Southard of Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Gene, Howard, Herman and Willard.
