ANNA, Ill. -- Carl Pickett, 81, of Anna died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home. He was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Jonesboro, Ill., son of Carl T. and Hazel E. Pickett. He married Elizabeth I. Abernathy on Sept. 10, 1950 in Piggott Ark. She died Jan. 23, 2000...

ANNA, Ill. -- Carl Pickett, 81, of Anna died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home.

He was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Jonesboro, Ill., son of Carl T. and Hazel E. Pickett. He married Elizabeth I. Abernathy on Sept. 10, 1950 in Piggott Ark. She died Jan. 23, 2000.

Pickett was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and road construction supervisor.

Survivors include his two sons, Joseph T. Pickett of Makanda, Ill., and Dr. Jay A. Pickett of Waterloo, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, Ill. today from 5 until 8 p.m.. today.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. David Eidson will officiate, with burial in the Anna City Cemetery.
