SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Carl Dean Howell Jr., Scott City Route 1, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eisleben Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Sarrault will officiate, with burial in Lightner Cemetery.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 3 p.m. today, and Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. to service time.

Howell, 40, died in a rock slide Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at Lone Star Industries in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 9, 1956, at Farmington, son of Carl Dean and LaNelle Holmes Howell Sr. He and Vicki L. Albrecht were married Oct. 22, 1976, in Scott City.

Howell was a truck driver for Super Valu (Wetterau) 20 years, and also owned and operated Howell Trucking Inc. He was a member of Eisleben Church, and Teamsters Local 574 in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Adam and Brett Howell of the home; his mother of Scott City; three brothers, James and Donald Howell of Scott City, Gary Howell of Marble Hill; and a sister, LeAnna Wright of Commerce.

He was preceded in death by his father.
