CARL F. DAVENPORT

BURFORDVILLE -- Funeral service for Carl F. Davenport of Lakeland, Tenn., formerly of Burfordville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. The Rev. Earnest Garret will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Davenport, 86, died Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born Sept. 23, 1909, at Whitewater, son of Ben F. and Jeffie Davis Davenport. He and Wilma Andrews were married Dec. 24, 1954.

Davenport farmed 34 years near Burfordville. He moved to St. Louis in 1988 and to Lakeland in 1994. He is a member of Burfordville Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Davenport of Lakeland; three brothers, Roy Davenport of Burfordville, Ray Davenport of Jackson, Troy Davenport of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Hazel Proffer of Burfordville and Grace Proffer of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
