Capitola Helen "Cappy" McCulley Reed, 84, passed away Monday, June 23, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Dec. 5, 1918, near Bell City, Mo., daughter of Harrison and Ida Jane Drew McCulley. She and Sherman Reed were married Nov. 29, 1959, in Longview, Wash. He passed away Aug. 31, 1998...

Capitola Helen "Cappy" McCulley Reed, 84, passed away Monday, June 23, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Dec. 5, 1918, near Bell City, Mo., daughter of Harrison and Ida Jane Drew McCulley. She and Sherman Reed were married Nov. 29, 1959, in Longview, Wash. He passed away Aug. 31, 1998.

Cappy attended Bell City Schools, and studied cake decorating at Longview Community College in Longview, Wash. She decorated cakes 13 years, was a cashier 20 years at Kroger in St. Louis, and was president of Monticello Medical Center Auxiliary in Longview in 1973 and 1974. She was a former member of Women's Aglow.

She was currently a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, and former member of Longview 20th Avenue Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher 50 years.

Survivors include a sister, Melba McCulley of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Donna Reed of Alton, Ill.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and a sister.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Dr. Derek Staples will officiate. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Lynwood Baptist Church.
