ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Calleigh Jean Cairns, 4, left the confines of this earthly world Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at her home in Altenburg, surrounded by those who loved her most. She was born June 10, 2017, in Perryville, Missouri. Although she spent half her short life battling brain cancer, Calleigh was a wonderfully loving, smart, active ray of sunshine who touched the hearts and souls of thousands of people around the world. She provided hope and purpose to many during an otherwise hopeless time...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Calleigh Jean Cairns, 4, left the confines of this earthly world Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at her home in Altenburg, surrounded by those who loved her most.

She was born June 10, 2017, in Perryville, Missouri. Although she spent half her short life battling brain cancer, Calleigh was a wonderfully loving, smart, active ray of sunshine who touched the hearts and souls of thousands of people around the world. She provided hope and purpose to many during an otherwise hopeless time.

Those left to carry on her legacy are her parents, Nathan and Chris Wampler Cairns; five siblings, Bayleigh, Keith, Cameron, Lilleigh and Molleigh; maternal grandmother, Judy Ryans Wampler; paternal aunt, Nicole (Jeff) Thieret, and uncle, Neil Cairns; maternal uncle, Stacy (Beth) Wampler, and aunt, Marcie Wampler; as well as 15 cousins.

Calleigh was welcomed into heaven by paternal grandparents, Donald and Sharon (Mangels) Cairns, and maternal grandfather, Wayne Wampler.

The family asks for donations to be made to Calleigh's benefit account at the Bank of Missouri, which will be converted into a foundation account in Calleigh's name to help other children and families fighting cancer. Checks may also be made directly to Mary Cairns to be placed in the account by the family.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 6:30 to 8 a.m. Monday at Ford and Young Funeral Home in Perryville.

Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, with the funeral to follow at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Roger Steinbrueck officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
