SIKESTON -- L.G. "Bud" Rodgers, 71, of Sikeston died Thursday March 19, 1998, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born July 3, 1926, in Leachville, Ark., son of Robert Lee and Hettie V. Fretwell Rodgers. He and Virginia Stout were married Sept. 9, 1996, in Piggott, Ark.
Rodgers had lived in the Morehouse and Sikeston area most of his life. He was a retired construction worker. He was a member of VFW and Eagles. Rodgers had served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bobby Rodgers of St. Louis, Stephen Rodgers of Mountain View; two daughters, Linda Adams of Hawaii, Paula Pope of St. Louis; a stepdaughter, Janice Mitchell of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Eldon Rodgers of Portageville; two sisters, Della Harville and Kathryn Appleton of Morehouse; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and two sisters.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Therman King officiating. Burial will be in Hobbs Chapel Cemetery near Dudley, with graveside rites by the Veterans Honor Guard in Poplar Bluff.
