James "Bruce" Slinkard, 50, of Scott City died Friday, July 11, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 30, 1952 in Cape Girardeau, the son of William T. and Elizabeth S. Schlosser Slinkard. He married Mary L. Baldock on Nov. 28, 1998, at Scott City.

Bruce owned and operated HouseViewOnline.com and had been yardmaster for the Cotton Belt Railroad in Dupo, Ill., until 1997.

He is survived by his wife, his father, two sons and their wives; Scott and Angie Slinkard of Jackson, Todd and Cara Mayberry of Advance; three daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Tom Crosnoe of Cape Girardeau, Meredith and Bill Laughlin of O'Fallon and Kellie Marschall of Manchester; three grandchildren, Theran Slinkard, Trevor Laughlin and Brittany Marschall; three brothers, W.J. Slinkard of New Iberia, La., Ronald Slinkard of Cape Girardeau and Troy Slinkard of The Woodlands, Texas; a sister, Martha Eifert of Scott City; two nephews, Kevin Runnels and Ty Slinkard; and two nieces, Laurie Glastetter and Andrea Hernandez.

His mother preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Lightner Memorial Cemetery in Scott City.
