COBDEN, Ill., -- Bruce Erwin, 73, of Cobden and formerly of Bourbonnais, Ill., died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at his home.
He was born March 19, 1932, at Cobden, son of Cecil Milo and Mabel Ruth Erwin. He married Virginia Crowell on June 27, 1956.
Erwin was an insurance agent, working for Country Companies from 1961 to 1965 and for State Farm Insurance in Kankakee County from 1967 to 1988. He was a sergeant with the Second Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in Korea from January 1951 to January 1954, earning a Purple Heart, two battle stars, the National Defense Service medal and the U.N. Service Medal. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and the Friendwood Christian Church, both in Bourbonnais.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Arthur Erwin of Mount Vernon, Ill and Danny Erwin of Effingham, Ill.; and a sister, Nancy Ann Davis of Metropolis, Ill.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Ill., from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Qualls will officiate, with burial in Big Creek Cemetery with full military honors.
