JACKSON -- Bruce Emmanuel Miller, 40, a long-time Jackson business and civic leader, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 1991, at St. Louis University Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 24, 1950, at Sikeston, the son of the late Frank Miller and Rosamond Milde Miller, who survives of Jackson.

On July 8, 1978, he married Marsha Dement at Sikeston. She also survives.

Miller graduated from Jackson schools in 1969, and was a graduate of Westminster College in Fulton in 1973, where he was a distinguished military graduate of the Westminster ROTC program. He was the ROTC battalion commander during his senior at Westminster.

Upon graduation, he was commissioned to 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he received the Army Commendation Medal for exceptional service with the 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Louis Washington.

He was formerly president of the Jackson Industrial Development Company from 1983 to 1984, and again from 1987 to 1988.

Miller also was member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors of Capital Bank, and the Altenthal-Joerns Post #158 of the American Legion in Jackson.

He was a past officer of the Missouri Bottlers Association, and the former general manager of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Southeast Missouri. He also was a member of the Executive Council of the Boy Scouts of Southeast Missouri, and a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Other survivors include his step-father, Charles Sanders of Jackson; two sons, Frank Emmanuel Miller and Trentis Eugene Miller, both of the home; and a brother, Brian Miller of Jackson.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at New McKendree United Methodist Church. The Rev. Armstrong Kellett, Miller's uncle, will officiate, and burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
