Brett Schermerhorn

Brett R. Schermerhorn, 33, of Friedheim passed away Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 19, 1990, in Conrad, Montana, to Eric and Christine Williams Schermerhorn. He and Anna Ayers were married April 19, 2014, in Friedheim. Two daughters were born to their union, Carlee and Darcee.

Brett served honorably in the U.S. Army, where he worked as an X-ray technician while deployed in Kuwait. He was proud to be a stay-at-home dad.

Loving survivors include his wife, Anna, and daughters, Carlee and Darcee of the home; parents, Eric and Christine Schermerhorn of Friedheim; a sister, Ashley E. Schermerhorn; a brother, Derick (Ashley D.) Schermerhorn of Jackson; a nephew who was more like a brother, Jaiden Boyd of Friedheim (also a fun uncle to 15 nieces and nephews); a special aunt, Josephine Klein of Fruitland; several other aunts, uncles and many special friends.

Brett was preceded in death by a special nana, Sharon Ayers, and a dear friend, Levi Asher.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Jeff Gipson will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home. Interment will follow.
