Brenda Shirley, 75, of Jackson passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Brenda was born July 24, 1946, in Stoddard County, Missouri, to Charles and Clodina Pruett Mann. She and Johnnie Shirley were married March 20, 1964, in Stoddard County.
She was a 1964 graduate of Dexter (Missouri) High School.
Brenda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She never met a baby that she didn't love and was affectionately referred to as "grandma" by many children who weren't even related to her.
Brenda worked many years as a real estate agent and later worked for Southwestern Bell. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping at flea markets.
Loving survivors include her husband of 57 years, Johnnie Shirley of Jackson; three children: Todd Shirley and wife, Tammy Proctor, of Providence, Utah; Terry Shirley and wife, Lori Mahala, of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and Lisa Hammond and husband, Patrick, of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Rachael and Jonathan Shirley and Isla, Sierra and Linda Hammond; a brother, Jerry Mann of McClure, Illinois; a nephew, Scott (Connie) Mann of Jackson; and a niece, Michelle (Shawn) Hinkle and daughter, Kylie, of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Mann.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Gary Cooper will conduct a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Bell City, Missouri.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
