Bobby Joe Busche passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 2 days at Lutheran Home in his hometown of Cape Girardeau. He was the son of the late Clifford and Marie Busche. His medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Bobby Joe Busche passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021, at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 2 days at Lutheran Home in his hometown of Cape Girardeau.

He was the son of the late Clifford and Marie Busche.

His medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite some pain and other issues, Bobby Joe came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 as sergeant first class, being stationed in Japan for 26 months.

Bobby Joe worked for 54 years at Missouri Dry Dock and Repair.

Being of the Lutheran faith, he attended Hanover Lutheran Church as a child and Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau as an adult.

In his spare time, he enjoyed working in his yard and being outside.

Bobby Joe met the love of his life, Shirley Roth, in Cape Girardeau. It was love at first sight, and from the beginning he knew they would be married. They married April 6, 1956. Together they had two children.

He was a member of the VFW Post 3838 and American Legion Post 63.

Bobby Joe is survived by his wife and his children, Sherry (Richard) Randol of Cape Girardeau and Timothy (Patricia) Busche of Mesa, Arizona. He also had three grandchildren -- Christina (Thomas) Preston, Theresa Randol and Daniel (Mary) Busche -- and five great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Germaine (George) Davis, and his favorite little cat, Maggie Mae.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Karl Busche; and a sister, Sharon Young.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.

Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
