OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Bobby James Burns, 64, of Olive Branch, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 19, 1939, in Dongola, Ill., son of Otis and Goldia Kelley Burns. He and Loretta Shelton were married Aug. 16, 1974, and she died Nov. 2, 1999.
He was a retired machinist for St. Louis Refrigerator Car Co. He was a member of Alexander Free Will Baptist Church and a board member of the Horseshoe Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include three daughters, Wendy Vaughn of Olive Branch, Amanda Jo Roy of Eaglesham, Scotland, and Bobbie Mensing of Carlyle, Ill.; one son, James E. Burns of Columbia, Ill.; three sisters, Vera Bridges of Olive Branch, Sandy Wallake of San Diego, Calif., and Linda Powell of Olive Branch; one brother, Mike Burns of Amarillo, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a sister and another wife.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Alexander Free Will Baptist Church in Olive Branch, with the Rev. Earnest Brown officiating. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
