JONESBORO, Ill. -- Bob G. Hayes, 75, of Jonesboro died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1929, in Tulsa, Okla., son of Ova Owen and Lurena Webber Hayes. He and Doris M. Newton were married Aug. 8, 1970, in Cape Girardeau. She died Feb. 23, 2004.
Hayes was a barber many years and also worked at Tammsco Silica Co. He was a member of Forty et Eight Grand Voiture d'Illinois, past commander of District 25 American Legion of Illinois, and past commander of American Legion Post 900 in McClure, Ill.
He served in the National Guard and U.S. Army.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Blevins and Linda Robert of Columbia, Mo., Jacqueline Hubbs of Jonesboro, Donna Lingle of Metropolis, Ill.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and his twin brother.
Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Valley Mission Cemetery, with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna, Ill.
