MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Bob D. Gones Sr., 79, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at his home.
He was born Nov. 16, 1925, at Hannibal, Mo., son of Kendall and Francis Henderson Gones. He and Margaret Presson were married Sept. 12, 1996.
Gones was employed by the FAA at Lambert International Airport in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, before retiring in 1979 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard the USS Petrof Bay in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Bobby Gones Jr. of West Plains, Mo., Mike and David Gones of Florissant, Mo., Mark Gones of Gordonville; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with military honors.
