Bob G. Barker, 77, of Cabot, Ark., left this earth for his eternal home Thursday, May 20, 2010, in Jacksonville, Ark.
He was born Jan. 13, 1933, to Clough and Myrtle Barker of Viola, Ark. He and Peggy Leeds were married Dec. 19, 1954.
Barker graduated from Arkansas College, now Lyon College, in Batesville in 1955. Bob retired from education with 50 years of service. He was a coach, counselor and assistant superintendent of schools in St. Clair, Mo., Benton, Mo., Tuckerman, Ark., and Fuller Junior High in Little Rock, Ark. He was elected to the Athletic Hall of Fame at Lyon College in 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Adalea Cotter; and his in-laws, Austin and Lille Leeds.
Survivors include his wife of 55 1/2 years, Peggy Leeds Barker; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Loti Barker of Cabot; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Charles Riedley of Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Russell Barker and wife Jennifer and Melanie Barker of Cabot, Ryan and Taylor Riedley of Brentwood; a sister, Marjorie Holstein; a brother, Ordene and Lena Barker, all of Viola, Ark., a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Jim Porter, and special family friends, the Lanpher family, all of Cape Girardeau; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was a friend to everyone he met and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home in Cabot.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home Chapel in Cabot. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia, Ark.
