Billy Tankersley, 83, son to the late Earnest and Mildred Lincoln Tankersley, was born Oct. 2, 1938, in Bessville, Missouri, and departed this life Oct. 16, 2021, in Cape Girardeau.

He married Judy Halter on Aug. 7, 1970. He worked at the Florsheim Shoe factory.

Bill was a beloved member of the Delta community and a loyal Delta Bobcat fan. He was known as "Mr. Bill" to many children who attended his wife's daycare and was a positive role model and father figure to them. He was a member of Delta First Baptist Church.

He is survived his wife, Judy Tankersley; son, Patrick (Tammy) Tankersley of Jackson; four daughters, Robin Huffman of Cape Girardeau; Jolene Rievley and husband, Gary Dysinger of Elk City, Oklahoma; Teresa (Keith) Cook of Whitewater; and Beth Rievley of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Doyle Tankersley of Kansas City, Missouri, and Danny Tankersley of Gordonville; three sisters, Lois Douglas of Gordonville; Joyce Spane of Chaffee, Missouri; and Tina Minner of Cape Girardeau; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aside from his parents, Bill was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandson.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the chapel with the Revs. Patrick Tankersley and Tyler Tankersley officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley, Missouri.
