POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Funeral for Billy Gene Scott of Poplar Bluff will be held at 10 a.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Dr. William Vail will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Walnut Ridge, Ark.

Scott, 74, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Jonesboro, Ark. He and Dorothy Ring were married Feb. 25, 1970, in Bono, Ark.

Scott was retired from law enforcement. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; five brothers, Lloyd, Thomas, Ray and Larry Scott of Walnut Ridge, Ark., Joe Scott of Kennett, Mo.; and a sister, Lena Childers of Jonesboro.
