ANNA, Ill. -- Funeral service for Billy Wayne Dirden of Anna will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Carl Land will officiate. Burial will be in McGinnis Cemetery, with military rites by Anna VFW Post 3455.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Dirden, 65, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at his home.
He was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Cobden, son of Irven H. and Mildred M. Winningham Dirden. He and Leta Mae Dirden were married Sept. 30, 1950, in Anna.
Dirden was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Union and Anna Masonic Lodge 520 AF & AM. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Billie Clover and Cindy Meier of Jonesboro, Katherine Allen of Mascoutah, Lisa Barnes-Arterberry of Elkville, Laura Humphrey of Anna; a son, Lewis Dirden of Anna; two sisters, Ella Duschl of Anna, Naomi Wickliffe of Odessa, Texas; a brother, John Dirden of Carbondale; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister, and a half sister.
