Billy Melton "Bill" Abernathy, 66, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at his home. He was born Nov. 17, 1952, in Cape Girardeau, son of Cline M. and Dorothy Winder Abernathy. He and Cherri Beauchamp were married June 14, 1992. Loving survivors include his wife of 26 years, Cherri Abernathy of Jackson; two daughters, Elizabeth Couch of Imperial, Missouri, and Lea-Ana (Sonny) Hodges of Arnold, Missouri; son, Bob Abernathy of Jackson; four grandchildren, Lillian Pickens, Ian Hodges, Leslie Minor and Carmen Fox; three great-grandchildren, Lola-Ann Umphurs, Asher Marcum and Autumn Fox; three siblings, Don (Marilyn) May of Iron Mountain Lake, Missouri, Jeanice (Sam) Baker and Sherry Ash of Jackson.. ...

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Jack and Jerry May and Maxine Floyd and Polly Abernathy.

A memorial visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The family suggests contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
