Billie J Mabrey, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 25, 1934, in Allenville to John H. and Marie Brucker Mabrey. He and Cora A. Miller married Aug. 17, 1963, at Riverton, Missouri. She preceded him in death March 2, 2018.

He served in the Army.

He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School, where he played baseball and football. He was a member of the 1951 state champion American Legion Baseball team in Cape Girardeau.

He received his bachelor's and master's degrees at Southeast Missouri State University. He taught two years at Valley Park, Missouri. He also taught physical education to special needs students at McCluer High School in Florissant, Missouri, for 28 years.

He competed and was very active in the Senior Olympics.

He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Barry Winders officiating.

Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Centenary United Methodist Church or the charity of choice.
