Bill D. James, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born March 30, 1933, at Scopus, Mo., son of Jessie J. and Dessa Viola Crites James. He and Florence Amy Ross were married May 26, 1956, in Cape Girardeau.
James worked at Marquette and Lone Star 34 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member and deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church, member of VFW Post 3838, and member and past recorder of Gypsum Local 164.
He served in the U.S. Army from April 2, 1953, to March 19, 1955.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Twyla James of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Sharon Estes and Karen Schrum of Lebanon, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The Rev. Joe McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Military Honor Guard.
