William Henry "Bill" Flannery, 80, of Jackson passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 6, 1934, at Crump, son of William Ira and Vercie Mae Riehn Flannery. He and Glenda "Lois" Seiler were married June 29, 1963, at Whitewater Methodist Church, and spent the last 52 years together.
Bill was a 1952 graduate of Delta High School. He worked on a river barge as an oiler; at the former Lowenbaum Garment Factory in Cape Girardeau eight years; and at Procter & Gamble from 1971 to 1997 as an operator in the diaper department.
He served in the U.S. Army from April 1957 to 1959, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and an honorable discharge.
Bill was a member of Excelsior Lodge 441 AF&AM in Jackson 38 years and was an Excelsior Order of DeMolay Chapter Dad. He was a past president of the former Jackson Jaycees.
Loving survivors include his wife, Lois, of Jackson; a son, Allen (Karen) Flannery of Festus, Missouri; two daughters, Laura (Brian) Keller and Angela (Sam) Davis of Jackson; six grandchildren, Terry, Lexi, Thomas and Trevor Flannery and Kaitlyn and Jesse Keller; and a brother, Bob (Loyce) Flannery of Jackson.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with military honors conducted.
