MOUNDS, Ill. -- William Russell "Bill" Baker, 91, of Oviedo, Florida, formerly of Deltona, Florida, and Mounds, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at his home. MOUNDS, Ill. -- William Russell "Bill" Baker, 91, of Oviedo, Florida, formerly of Deltona, Florida, and Mounds, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at his home.

He was born Nov. 4, 1923, in Villa Ridge, Illinois, son of Noel and Grace Vaughn Baker. He married Imoludene "Deanie" Baker, who died April 7, 2011.

Bill served in the Coast Guard.

He retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad as a switchman. He was a member of Deltona Lakes Baptist Church, and was a 50-year member of Caledonia Chapter 587 Order of Eastern Star in Olive Branch, Illinois.

Survivors include a son, retired Lt. Cmdr. Dale (Angie) Baker of Deltona; a daughter, Teresa Baker of Oviedo; and several nephews and nieces.

Bill was preceded in death by a son, Keith William Baker; his parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge with full military honors by the United States Coast Guard and area veterans.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to St. Jude Tribute Program at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 in memory of Bill Baker.
