Bill Allen

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Funeral for Bill Allen of East Prairie was held Tuesday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Rob Kespelher officiated. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery near Charleston, Mo.

Allen, 70, died Friday, May 24, 2002, in Fairfield Bay, Ark.

He was born Nov. 29, 1931, at Wolf Island, Mo., son of G.M. "Pete" and Bessie Hockersmith Allen. He and Ava June Smith were married March 13, 1955.

Allen retired from farming in 2000.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Joe Allen of Farmington, Mo.; two daughters, LuAnn Cantrell of Sikeston, Mo., Tracy Hohler of Searcy, Ark.; two brothers, Leondas "Doc" and G.W. Allen of East Prairie; two sisters, Maxine Lasters of Bertrand, Mo., Vivian Watson of East Prairie; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
