Elizabeth Frances "Betty" Weed, 99, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Nov. 1, 1895, in Mason, Tenn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Wood. She and Lee H. Weed were married May 29, 1929, in Memphis, Tenn. He died Nov. 12, 1983...

Elizabeth Frances "Betty" Weed, 99, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, April 5, 1995, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Nov. 1, 1895, in Mason, Tenn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Wood. She and Lee H. Weed were married May 29, 1929, in Memphis, Tenn. He died Nov. 12, 1983.

Weed lived most of her life in Memphis. She was a member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church and the Nineteenth Century Club. She had been active in Kings Daughters and served on the board of directors of the Home for Incurables, all in Memphis.

During World War II she was a Red Cross volunteer and supervised the making of bandages.

Survivors include a son, Lee Weed of Cape Girardeau; four grandsons, and three great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Memorial Park in Memphis, with burial following.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.
