Betty Jane Watson, 86, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 1, 1933, in East Prairie, Missouri, to Charles and Florence Smith Cowser.
She attended school in East Prairie.
She was an attentive mother, grandmother and most recently a great-great-grandmother to a loving family who affectionately called her JJ.
JJ had a beautiful voice, loved to sing and often used her love of music to praise the Lord. She always said she tried to live with a song and a prayer in her heart. She devoted her life to her family and her church family at Mount Auburn Christian Church in Cape Girardeau.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Ulrich of Waverly, Tennessee, and Judy Grier of Jackson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday at Mount Auburn Christian Church, 930 N. Mount Auburn Road, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
The Rev. Casey Elmore will officiate the funeral ceremony at noon Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Mount Auburn Christian Church.
