Betty Katherine Titus, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, in Edwardsville, Illinois, with her family by her side.

Betty was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Mounds, Illinois, to Earl and Ruby Lomax Williamson. She and Spencer Eugene "Neenie" Titus were united in marriage Sept. 7, 1945, in Cape Girardeau.

In her younger years, Betty worked at her father's doughnut shop, the Illinois Extension Office and Head Start. She spent most of her life as homemaker for her husband and four children in Mounds. However, she worked as a secretary for the Mounds Meridian School District until retirement.

Betty's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed extensive quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-children. For many summers, she and her husband, Neenie, camped in Yellowstone National Park while visiting their daughter Debbie and her family. Betty and Neenie loved adventure -- they hiked for hours admiring God's beautiful creation. Later in life, Betty spent many winters in Boynton Beach, Florida, visiting her dear friend Margaret Knight. The two were world travelers and adored each other's company immensely.

For the past 10 years, Betty has lived in Bethalto, Illinois, near her eldest daughters and their families. She had a passion for playing cards, pingpong and Mexican Train, and was a fierce competitor against her children and great-grandchildren, alike. G.G. especially enjoyed cheering on her great-grandchildren during their ballgames. She spent her spare time shopping, eating out, reading and working crossword puzzles. Betty's zest for life was contagious, and it remained with her for 90 fun-filled years.
