Betty Lou Chapman Ramsey, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, May 14, 2021.

She was born June 18, 1929, in Advance, Missouri, to Walter D. and Anna Hedge Chapman. Betty and James C. Ramsey were united in marriage on May 25, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, and he preceded her in death May 11, 2012.

Betty was member of LaCroix United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau and had been involved in many activities such as Bible study, a member of a prayer chain and serving as a greeter. She is happy to be in Heaven and reunited with her family, especially her beloved husband, and is now dancing a waltz with him as they did so many times before. Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a sweet and kind lady to all she met and loved attending her exercise classes.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Ellen (Brad) Talley of Whitewater; sons, John N. (Vickie) Ramsey of Arkansas and Thomas L (Deb) Ramsey of Florida; brother, Kenneth (Maryann) Chapman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ramsey of Jackson; grandchildren, John (Carisa) Pursell of Cape Girardeau and Alexis (Paul) Gayer and Kaylee (Artie) Leecock, both of Florida; stepgrandson, Jody (Mandy) Parker of Kansas; great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Mackenzie Pursell, Bodhi Gayer, Aubrey Lenavitt and Ayden Leecock; great-stepgrandchildren, Kyle and Kylie Parker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Lloyd (Marilyn) Chapman, Raymond (Betty) Chapman and Calvin (Marilyn) Chapman; sister, Verna Lee (Bill) Trickey; sister-in-law, Shirley (Bob) Kurre; brother-in-law, Charles W. Ramsey; and grandson, Jason Ramsey.

The family wishes to offer its thanks to its friends at Lutheran Home.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kim Holman officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
