Betty Jo Pender, 90, of Scott City died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2924, surrounded by her family at her home.
She was born Nov. 5, 1933, in Bloomfield to Bernal Clayton and Beulah Covington Murphy. She and Howard E. Pender were married May 20, 1952, at Cape Girardeau.
Betty volunteered at the clothes closet and food pantry at Red Star Baptist Church.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau
Survivors include four children, James (Rhonda) Pender of Benton, Barry (Stephanie) Pender of Millersville, Jean (Robert) Deimund of St. Peters and Allen (Margaret) Pender of Scott City; a sister, Mary Murphy of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, Aaron (Liz) Pender, Brian (Erin) Pender, Lawrence (Samantha Hastings) Pender, Kyle (Lindsey) Pender, Derek (Tammy) DeSpain, Chad (Julie) DeSpain, Mari Deimund and Nicholas Deimund; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Lon Murphy; sister, Jacqueline Green; and grandson, Chad Pender.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Ford and Son Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mike Shupert and Wesley Tew officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
