McCLURE, Ill. -- Betty J. Oxford, 74, of McClure died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born Aug. 9, 1923, in Chicago, daughter of John F. and Emmaline Van Ness Cullen. She and J.W. Oxford were married in June 1943, in St. Louis.
Oxford moved to McClure two years ago from Chicago. She was a graduate of Bowen High School in Chicago.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Elizabeth Cyganowitz of East St. Louis; a brother, Bill Cullen of Chicago; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, three brothers, and a sister.
Private graveside service will be held in Lindsey Cemetery, with the Rev. Raymond Oxford officiating.
Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
