Betty Lee Jaynes, 70, formerly of Sikeston, Chaffee, Sedalia and Thayer, Missouri, died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 22, 1946, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Joseph and Leona Newton, she worked as a legal secretary for many years and then went to Sikeston Vocational Technical School to obtain her degree as a licensed practical nurse.
She and Ronald Leslie Jaynes were joined in marriage in Parma, Missouri, on March 21, 1975. Ronald survives of their Cape Girardeau home.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Teea Jaynes of Sikeston and Grant and Jina Jaynes of Chaffee; one daughter, Brooke Jaynes of Cape Girardeau; two stepdaughters and their spouses, Rhonda and Mike Marshal of Asheville, North Carolina, and Ramona and Mike Cox of St. Louis; 30 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many other loving relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Helen Jaynes; two sons, Timothy Eual Heacox Jaynes and Matthew Leslie Jaynes; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Delores Newton; one sister, MaryJo Icenogle; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Roxann and Larry McRoy.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
