Betty Gene Cato, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Greenbrier, Missouri, to the late Clyde and Pearl Watkins Corbin. She and Dale W. Cato were married July 21, 1945, at Brownwood, Missouri. He preceded her in death April 8, 1987.
Betty had worked at Howard's Athletic Store and Hartford's Ladies Store.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1956 and was a member of the Rasche Sunday school class and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Southeast Missouri State University Basketball Boosters Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 63 Auxiliary. Betty was a volunteer at Missouri Veterans Home for many years.
Loving survivors include her daughter, Pat (James) Allen of Cape Girardeau; sons, David (Debbie) Cato of Cape Girardeau and Roger (Carolyn) Cato of Little Rock, Arkansas; granddaughters, Tracie (Michael) Beckmann of O'Fallon, Missouri; Heather Cato of Olympia, Washington, and Christina (Jeremy) Snyder of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; two great-grandsons, Carter Beckmann of O'Fallon and Spencer Snyder of Lake St. Louis. She is also survived by a sister, Willodean (Ray) Lloyd of Advance, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Cato; brothers, Paul, Claude, Harold and Hubert Corbin; and sisters, Gavada (Ivan) Woodfin and Joan (Harold) Cole.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Schmidt officiating. Burial will be at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
Memorial contributions may be given to Grace United Methodist Church or Missouri Veterans Home.
