GLENALLEN, Mo. -- Betty Jane Boyer, 79, of Glenallen died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at the Woodland Hills Skilled Nursing Center in Marble Hill, Mo. She was born Aug. 26, 1930, in St. Louis, the daughter of Henry C. and Beulah E. Smith Francis. She and James Maurice Boyer were married July 19, 1948, in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death Aug. 29, 2009...

GLENALLEN, Mo. -- Betty Jane Boyer, 79, of Glenallen died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at the Woodland Hills Skilled Nursing Center in Marble Hill, Mo. She was born Aug. 26, 1930, in St. Louis, the daughter of Henry C. and Beulah E. Smith Francis.

She and James Maurice Boyer were married July 19, 1948, in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death Aug. 29, 2009.

From 1947 to 1957 Betty taught school at schools in Tiff, Mo., Pounds, Little Vine, Trace Creek and Grassy, Mo. In 1959 she began work for the ASCS office in Marble Hill. She retired in 1989 following 30 years of service. She was a member of the Scopus Church of Christ and a charter member of the Grassy Neighborhood Watch, and served many terms as a Republican Committeewoman for her district.

Survivors include three sons, James (Barbara) Boyer, Kevin (Pam) Boyer and Stan (LouAnn) Boyer, all of Glenallen; five grandsons, Jamie (Angie) Boyer, Andy Boyer, Travis Boyer, Danny (Leanna) Boyer and David Boyer; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Becky (Jim) Douglas of Pevely, Mo.; and three brothers, Gale (Marlene) Francis of Grassy, Kelly (Wanda) Francis of Marble Hill and Kenny (Harlena) Francis of Advance, Mo.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the funeral home, with Gale, Kelly and Rick Francis officiating. Burial will follow in McGee Chapel Cemetery near Glenallen.
