GORDONVILLE, Mo. -- Funeral for Betty Gene Massie of Ellington, Mo., was held Wednesday at Ellington First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Frago officiated. Burial was in Dan Massie Cemetery.
McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellington was in charge of arrangements.
Massie, 70, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at St. John's Regional Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
She was born May 26, 1930, in Gordonville, daughter of Bern Frank and Bessie Marie Quade McGuire. She and Dannie Louis Massie were married Dec. 21, 1951, at Van Buren, Mo. He died Nov. 5, 1992.
Massie received a bachelor of science degree in education from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She was certified to teach English, biology and social studies.
She and her husband opened Massie Pole Yard Inc. near Van Buren in 1970. She had been a county youth agent, 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a member of Ellington First Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, David Massie of Ellsinore, Mo., Dale Massie of Ellington, Steven Massie of Walnut Grove, Mo., Nathan Massie of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter, Brenda Parrish of Walnut Grove; a brother, Roy McGuire of Gordonville; a sister, Dorothy Voges of Jackson, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
