JACKSON -- Bette L. Crites, 71, of Jackson died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at her home.
She was born Oct. 25, 1926, at Allenville, daughter of David and Ollie McLain Slinkard.
She married John H. Crites on Nov. 19, 1948. He died July 6, 1983.
She worked for the Jackson R-2 School District as a secretary from the early 1960s until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and a member of the Jackson American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by three sons, Alan Crites, Rex Crites and Dean Crites, all of Jackson; four sisters, Gladys Bond of Branson, Novella Howell of Delta, and Pat Statler and Jane Klaus, both of Jackson; a brother, Norman Slinkard of Delta; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Scott Lohse officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
