Bessie R. Lancaster, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Oct. 2, 1905, in Scranton, Ark., daughter of Thomas and Claudie Alexander Lasiter. She was married to Leroy Lancaster on May 29, 1927, at Scranton. He died April 25, 1964.
She was a homemaker and attended the Salvation Army church. She was a member of the Navy Mothers Club and the Salvation Army Home League.
Survivors include four sons, Harold Lancaster of New Church, Va., Raymond Lancaster of Vanduser, Roy Lancaster of Cape Girardeau and Jerry Lancaster of Jackson; three daughters, Norma Needham of Subiaco, Ark., Ruth Dodd of Florissant and Betty Lancaster of Maple Valley, Wash.; three half brothers, Bobby Lasiter of Texas and Lindsay and Roscoe Lasiter, both of California; two sisters, Nettie Maples of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ruth McDaniel of Modesto, Calif.; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, a half brother, a sister and a grandson.
Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Maj. Stephen Kiger officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Morley.
